Long spring on softtop frame: how to attach it?
« on: November 23, 2022, 15:25:08 »
Can anyone tell what I do wrong? I hooked the long spring on the softtop frame and the other end on the floor of the compartment. When I lower the softtop in the compartment, the piece with the hole on the frame goes down as well, which is ok. However, it cannot go down far enough, as the end of the spring hits the part that bolts the frame on the chassis. I attach 2 pictures: the frame without the spring, and the situation with the spring in place.

I don't know if the 250 is the same as the 280 for these spring(s), but it looks like you are missing a piece that holds the large spring, and the hole where you have attached the large spring is actually for a small circular spring (see pics, from a 280SL)
