Pagoda grill ‘star’- anyone know part number
« on: September 26, 2022, 21:49:19 »
Hi everyone

Having spent more time with Bessy, I have discovered that she appears to have the ‘wrong’ star fitted into the grill. The top and left part of the star do not appear to fit correctly

Would anyone happen to know what the part number (for front part) should be?

Too much of a long shot I guess to think someone in the forum may have one😉

Thanks

Hello, it may not be the wrong star, it may have just been repaired in the past and failed again, apparently they weren't very robustly made and quite common to get broken from stones, strong winds or stray leaves or feathers blowing into the grill.  Volumes have been written on here about repairs or replacements.  As with everything Pagoda, reproduction replacements cost about the same as a small hatchback, so repair is probably favourable.  One posting recommended laser welding if you can find someone who can do it

Have a search for "grill star", pages of suggestions including these

I just noticed that Adsitco in the USA has 113 Grill Stars for $595

The part number they note is SKU# 088-1303

https://www.adsitco.com/mercedes-parts/grill-star-113-new/

I have been 100% satisfied ordering parts from these people but I can't attest to the quality of this one.

This is noted as a new item so maybe more suppliers are getting them as well.

Hate to tell you this, but that is cheap.  Only a few years ago you could not get one for love nor money under $800.

It must be the only item that has come back in price.🙀🙀

Not suggestions to buy it there but this is likely a cheaper option. Reproduced in SS (Don’t know their price either)

Thank you

Yes, for a pagoda part, this probably is cheap. Unfortunately I only have beer money 🤣🤣

I’m going to see if I can get a specialist to make me a new star out of copper then have it chromed

By the time he is done, you wish you would have bought the original one.
