Petri,

I checked with Jon Bernardi (that's where the mails went) and he does not have a record of your mail for PW30 and PW31, also not in the spam box.
The mail you forwarded me has no subject and no content... in fact it is malformed. It was sent to the correct address but would not have registered correctly... as it does not have the content it should have had, including your member number and a correct subject.

It appears something in your mail system is not set-up correctly.

Thank you for including the Pagoda SL Patch.  I had it sewed on my cap.  I tried to upload a photo but can't seem to make that work.

Thanks a lot, got PW 31 today, about a week after I got PW 32.
I can read that it was post stamped 03/13/2023, so it came quick, only 8 days!
Big thanks that you’ve arranged resend of PW 31 when it failed by some reason on the attempt last September

For those that have not followed the saga of PW #31.

It was printed by our previous printer and mailed in September, 2022.
By December, we realized that the same problems existed with PW #31 has had existed with PW #30: large numbers of magazines not getting to their destination.
At our sole expense, we authorized a reprint of PW #31 after asking members to let us know if they didn't receive it. As per usual, not all responded in a timely fashion. The second printing went out at the end of December, 2022.
However--our mistake--we uncovered an error in the way the address list was prepared. So not all who did respond timely made it on the list.
We changed printers and made a THIRD printing of PW #31 and that went out  at the beginning of March.

The new printer also did PW #32. No complaints on delivery, however we are starting to get some back, mostly non-USA members who don't provide a proper mailing address standardized for their country. I don't know why this is an issue, but a measurable number of people simply don't know their own address and or don't know it must be standardized to their own postal service rules. Not ours.

Aside from that, at a fractionally different price point we are now sending out all magazines in a different class and many are arriving overseas within a week of posting.

We consider our mailing issues solved. I think we won't be talking about this in September with PW #33.

We are checking into this now to see if we have a remaining copy to send you. When we first ran into this issue last fall, did you follow the instructions in the time allotted so you could get on the list? If not, you never made it on the first list. We then did a second mailing, followed by third. We’re looking to see if you were on any of these lists.

I received an email on the 4th Dec 2022 with a link for a reply email if I had not received a copy of issue 31. Clicked on the link and send the reply email as instructed the same day. I would be nice to get 31 at some point. Thank you for checking.
best regards

Alpinaltd is in the second list, i.e. the PW31 set which also had incorrect entries in it. It was sent at the end of December 2022. He's therefore not in the third mailing.

As such we have to assume your issue got lost in the mail. Can you double check that your address is included correctly in the system, in accordance with Spanish postal rules?

There are a couple of members on this thread that received 2nd copies, i'm sure they wouldn't mind posting their spare copies to Europe, it would only cost a few £, perhaps message them and ask

IF there are any non-USA members who did receive duplicate copies of PW#31, please send me a message, a PM preferable. Just click my name on the left and you'll get my official club email. We may ask you to post these out and reimburse you as needed.

For the time being, we'll take care of the two members in Spain today. I just created the international shipping and customs labels, and JonnyB will get these out today. I should note that when processing these today, it tells me that First Class Mail to Spain is up to 4x longer to arrive than to say, Germany or France or other European countries...and based on all the ExPat information, I think Correos may be the hold up? Both Alpina and debel56 received tracking information so they can find out where their magazines are once they leave the USA.

As our Admin Peter has alluded to, and I've been saying all along, it is quite important that all members check their address according to local rules. For USA members, our printer does this automatically by placing the address list through a US Postal Service certification program which standardizes and corrects addresses. However it cannot correct errors such as a transposed house number, or something like that. We cannot do ANY checking on non-USA addresses. For all members, no postal service can place a mailbox at your home either. As editor JonnyB and I have been working through these issues, we have had returned Pagoda World magazines from members with incomplete addresses, incorrect addresses, along with "no mail receptacle". Sometimes when trying to contact the member, we don't get a reply. We have been assiduous in trying to get these situations corrected on a one by one basis as they occur. But it would be so much better if everyone, particularly those outside the USA, would use their local postal system's online service to verify their exact mailing address and format. I only use this as an example, but if you live in a small village in England and everyone knows that your home is "Flower Cottage, Whimsey Lane" Royal Mail instead may have it as 13 Whimsey Lane. It may have been a home built hundreds of years ago, and for which mail has been delivered without issue for decades--but the rules have changed. As all mail--first class letters to large packages--that cross international borders must clear customs, some jurisdictions require that the addressee's name conform to their legal name on government issued identification in case the item is held up in Customs. I don't make this stuff up. For all I know, the two magazines posted twice to Spain are still in their customs office somewhere awaiting clearance. No way to know.

Postal services the world over since Covid have tightened up so many things. What was normal 3 years ago is no longer normal.

While maybe just 10-15 magazines are returned to us, it is taking an enormous amount of time (not to mention club funds, at 3x the original cost) to sort out these issues.

Yes your copy was also sent in the December 2022 mailing. The same question -- as you are also in Spain -- is your address entered correctly according to Spanish postal rules?

Unfortunately, Peter, the December 2022 mailing (the duplicate) of PW31 went the same way as the September 2022 mailing of PW31. Our FORMER printer used a third partly mailing service instead of the USPS to get the magazines from the USA to their respective host countries. Thankfully YOU Peter were the one who noticed this third party label.

Our new strategy with the new printer is all mail goes first class. No third parties. Both Spanish members here did get #32 sent out this way. New copies of #31 are being sent today.

Yes, my address is correct. I have received issue 32 without problem! and before issues 30 and 29.

I have received too Pagoda World Book Volume 1 and later Volume 2.

My address is always been the same.

Many thanks

Our two members in Spain had new copies dispatched to them on 27-April from California. While it took some days to get properly sorted for international transit to Spain while in the hands of the USPS, these replacement copies left the USA (Los Angeles) on a plane, on 3-May. So by today they are in the hands of Correos, the local Spanish mail carrier. Hopefully they will get these delivered to our members in a reasonable amount of time.

@debel56 and @Alpinaltd, it would be nice if you let us know when they arrive.
