Windshield aluminum strip
« on: September 08, 2022, 13:10:04 »
I have a problem with the windshield aluminum strip.
I had installed the rubber seal on my old windshield and while installing the aluminum strip a managed to crack the old windshield. I got a new one from SLS and have installed the rubber seal and I find that the aluminum strip is a bit too big. The aluminum strip was the right size on the old windshield but now although the rubber fits fine the aluminum strip is about 3/8 inch too long along the bottom. I can just cut off the excess, but I fear that the windshield will not fit correctly.

Any thoughts?

Hi Michael
Are you installing the trim on the rubber before you fit the windshield?

Yes I did. It seems that the aluminum strip is deformed. when I put it in it moves the rubber away from the corner of the glass and I can see the edge of the glass. I have ordered a new set of strips and we will see what happens. Thanks for the response.
