280SL to purchase
« on: June 27, 2022, 18:22:22 »
My 1970 was recently "totaled", rather murdered, by a red light runner in San Francisco. I am looking for a replacement 280. Specifically 1970 or 1971. Ivory While, body and top. Automatic transmission. Tan or black upholstery. Intact cloth top. Ronald Ward, M.D., Email: rrw1946@sbcglobal.net. Ph: 1 (415) 385-9848. Fax:  1 (415) 409-5334

Ouch, sorry to hear - I remember you only recently recovered your car after it was stolen. Terrible luck.

Best of luck with the search

I assume it’s going to take you a while to find a replacement. Make sure you do not get screwed out of the cost of the sales tax on your replacement. Progressive did that to me once as I did not replace my daughters car soon enough.

I spoke with Roy Spencer the other day at Mercedes Heritage.  He has a 1968 280Sl that he’ll be selling soon.  It has 51K miles and is in beautiful original condition.  It’s not the color you want but I’d opt for a quality, original car over color any day of the week.  Plus for you, it’s local (Burlingame).  Go to mercedesheritage.com under classified.

Those are some nice offerings I'm wondering if he's at all serious about finding a car.
