Wanted, both springs which lift up both the boot lid and the soft top cover. (The previous owner cut off one end of each spring presumably to remove them)

One of my least favourite jobs of the whole restoration, unbelievable amount of tension in these springs, I foolishly took them off and damaged my new paintwork when refitting , some threads on how to refit and special tool to make if you search this site, I don’t envy you.

Thanks for all input. I have both springs ( but with one end cut off) if I could copy an intact set I'd make the missing bits (tempered) then sleeve onto what I have.. At least replacement s are available at a cost !

I'm intrigued to know the process for repairing a failed (or cut) torsion spring.

And also why do it - I would have thought there are quite strong and dangerous forces applied...

I dont know if it helps but i removed them and likely will install in the same way by screwing in sheet rock screws at several points along the spring to lengthen it. while removing or installing.
