When i did a change over in my 280 many years ago the cost of the mechanical speedo drive from BMW was nearly the price of the gear box so make sure you get a mechanical one and not the electronic speedo drive.

You COULD get a 265 w/o the mech. speedo drive if you can find the parts for them and retrofit (easy).

Or get a Speedbox and have it modified to drive your mech speedo.  GPS way accurate!

Gentlemen, maybe someone knows?
The GEATRAGs 265 are becoming hard to get, so is there any other 5/6 speed alternative for the Pagoda?
As far as I know, this 6-speed gearbox from Anna Thom is a modern Getrag probably from the BMW 1 Series?

Only 5 speed conversion that is available, that I have found. Modified Tremec 5 speed, with choice of .73 or .63 5th gear ratio. Runs about $5500.00 USD. Would be interested if anyone here has installed this unit?

Reach out to Ray, known as Raymond who lives in Florida, and one of our past Presidents, who has done this many years ago quite successfully.

Anna Thom is using their own bellhouse casting which they weld on onto a modern gearbox.
The speedo gear is their custom (belt driven) product bolted onto the rear of the box.

Next spring I can crawl under my car to check the casing number.

A 265 gearbox plus prop shaft with universal joint together with crate weighing a total of 48 kg shipped by air (FedEx) to New Zealand from the UK cost £235 .
I thought that was relatively cheap considering the distance travelled.

I don't know if this is still relevant or not, but I can supply a kit or just a gearbox - full reconditioned if needed.

They are available on kleinzagen eBay in Germany, see link
https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-metzingen/getrag-265-6/k0l7987
And installation kit is available from Pagode W 113 (Roadbook)
https://w113.eu/Shop/Roadbook%20Shop.html
I have bought the parts myself from these sites and it was very hassle free and I’m now working with the exchange of gearbox.
