AC Vent Became Dislodged
« on: September 29, 2021, 00:17:15 »
The plastic adjustable AC vent become dislodged from the interior AC housing (see attached photo.) I can reach behind the opening and feel that one of the "U" brackets has come lose resulting in the vent becoming dislodged.

Any idea as to the complexity of removing the housing to get access to the "U" bracket to reinsert?  Is this an hour job or a six hour job?

Any input would be appreciated.

Its not an hours job if you’ve never done
It before. You will
Have to drop the unit from
The dash and unscrew the the front of the unit from the evaporator housing so
You can get at the back side of the vents. Not sure if you will also have to disconnect the refrigerant lines or not which are accessed by removing the glove box. That depends upon how much slack Is in the refrigerant lines. Probably easiest Is to disconnect the lines and put the unit on a table so you can take it apart.

Maybe someone else in this sight has figured out how to do it without disconnecting
The unit.

John, it can be done without dropping the AC- casing.

The louvre itself with som TLC can be pulled out.  (turning/wiggling with some long pliers.)

On either side of the louvre is a hinge pin approx 1/4 dia .on either of this pins belongs a small springtype washerring.
These might be fallen in the casing..( with flashlight you should be able to find.)
The louvre swivels on 2 holes left and right in the casing.

Its a not too difficult job, its selfexplaining.

succes
