tachometer cable location

1969 280sl automatic

I need a tachometer cable
is this a correct replacement?

I have heard that it connects to the back of the injection pump, but do not see where
Where does it connect?

any other tips?

Hi Edward,
No the tacho drive is not driven by the injection pump. The cable goes through the fire wall in the vicinity of the injection pump, then over the pump to the front LH side of the engine, next to the nr 1 spark plug. Follow the black cable.

Yes, 1300mm looks correct. Perhaps check out Authentic Classic or Bud's Benz - you will be buying more parts...

Yeah, I started two threads for items I thought were far different from each other. I am all good now.
Should I delete one of the two for forum simplicity?

Be aware ( for current and all future post readers) that tacho and speedo cables are different for RHD and LHD.
