New door seals 230 SL
« on: September 07, 2021, 19:57:00 »
Following a complete strip down and repaint I'm going to replace the door seals  but leaving the existing seals on the hard and soft tops. The Mercedes dealer sent the attached drawing showing the components. Am I right in thinking that the following numbers are correct for the glass to slide in/ against for weather sealing

294,. 278,. 280,. 298,. and 332 against the glass both inside and out. Also is 228/230 the large guide which is missing on the drivers side.

Thanks

294 - weatherstrip (I do not think it is available)
278 - retaining rail, top, hinge side (not a rubber part)
280 - retaining rail, hinge side
298 - welt
332 - trim strip (not a rubber part)

228/230 guide jaw and slide (rear)
224 - guide jaw front

I think to be able to do the exercise you need a picture, but with descriptions. Such as this one: https://www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/en/mercedes-230-280sl-w113-/72-door/72-a-door

Find the parts, then refer them back to the picture from the dealer to determine numbers.

The door weatherstrips may not be available at MB, and if they are, they would cost about $ 900 each.

Thanks Pawel, I'll go the SLS route, easy site to navigate although I did read that their door seals are not as pliable as the Mercedes parts.

I provided link to the SLS site to trace down which parts you need, not necessarily to suggest buying there. The rubber is best form Mercedes, but those are NLA there. I do not remember what I have on  my car, but if those seals were not available at Mercedes 5-6 years ago when I was restoring y car, I have Niemoeller or SLS. I can live with what I have, but maybe others will share experiences.
