To Saint-Gobain Sekurit or not?
« on: August 17, 2021, 22:35:55 »
When I bought my car 17 years ago, the first thing I did was swap out the 38 yr old pitted windshield for another.   Back then, I paid $25,000 for the car and thought it was worth $20,000...so I hesitated to "overspend," so I put in a PPG windshield.   Now, it's fully restored and I'm rethinking the choice and am inclined to get the remaining details straight and wondering "should I spend the money to get the "Saint-Gobain Sekurit" branded windshield back?"  To me, details matter...

Thoughts?

Chris I just bought a new windshield for my car. The brand sold by Mercedes-Benz now is AGP. Not Sekurit or St. Gobain.

Maybe in Europe but not in the US.  AGP (American Glass Products) buys glass from Pittsburgh Glass Works who were formally PPG.

I remember (17 years ago) that they said they could source Sekurit in Europe at a considerably higher cost.  Has anyone done that?
