107 plaid seat cover materials
« on: July 13, 2021, 18:24:30 »
My 1983 280 SL (107) has the plaid seat inserts and door cards which I have come to love.
The plaid material is in almost perfect condition except for the drivers seat bottom has worn thru. I would like to replace.
It is Blue 052 pattern.
Does anyone know a vendor that sells the MB seat fabric materials?
I have not been able to find any.
Any info would be appreciated.
thanks,

Have you checked Franz-Josef Döpper

or KHM ?

Should have what you are looking for....

Thanks gentlemen.  Achim, Cabrio.de shows the exact fabric and color as Polsterstoff Nr 732, karo spat blau, 032,052,072.
Alas they are out of stock on that pattern. I sent them an email asking for an estimated date of new stock.
The other shops that were referred did not show my pattern and color. Plus the 300SL plaids are sehr cool.
thanks again,

jz

I am happy to say that I found my correct replacement seat plaid seat fabric at Steenbuck in Germany. Very responsive, sending samples, selling retail and accepting paypal for a small order.
I purchased 2 meters and it was delivered the other day. A pretty perfect match. but the colors are more vibrant than the 40 year old originals.
I wonder if there is a way to " age " the fabric to mellow the colors to more match the remaining pieces ? I only plan to reupholster the worn drivers seat bottom.

You can buy a blue fabric dye and spray your old faded cloth with it. The dye is not a solid colour so will only add depth to the existing colours. It's great for restoring sun-faded cloth.

Thanks Stick, You say a spray blue fabric dye can enliven the sun faded -dark blue/light blue/white plaid seat fabric ?
Would you happen to have a brand name for me pls?

Steenbuck is the best supplier we have in Germany. Especially for the original Roser-style leather. No match by the others.
