5-speed transmission
«

Anyone have any suggestions on where to buy a 5-speed transmission? I am doing 280SL chassis #41 and the owner wants to install a 5-speed.
Original or aftermarket.
I have found this site:
https://drivenman.com/product/mercedes-280sl-5-speed-conversion-kit/
Anyone have any intel on them?
I know 5-speeds are offered by various vendors.
Any thoughts or experience with them?
I read the great article by Reinhold Schuetz in the Sept 2020 Pagoda World.
Just exploring more options.
Thank you

I think Bud's Benz also sells a conversion.
In the PW 28 article by Paul Cain, he references this conversion:
I purchased the kit from Pagode W 113 Roadbook
(see
http://w113.eu/Shop/Roadbook%20Shop.html
) - just checked and these folks indicate you need to source a BMW Getrag transmission. It has the details in the article.

Authentic classics has a BNIB one from the re-run for $20k or you could look at the 6 speed option from Europe.
