Interior rubber mats
« on: May 07, 2021, 18:10:27 »
New interior rubber mats arrived from my dealer today. They are exactly like my original ones in car. Also new holding studs for them.

They look good!

Are the new mats grey or black? They look black in the photo outside the car and grey inside the car.

I also have these rubber mats in my 250SL but they are grey and am looking to replace them as they are original and in quite bad condition.

My apologies for the photo. They are grey just same as originals in my car. Just the way both pictures were taken and two different surroundings.

Good morning, very nice looking, could you share in US dollars what the cost was? Many thanks.

don't forget that the Classic Center has a 20% off-discount during the month of May. The link below shows the mats priced at $99.00 ea.

FYI These are floor coverings, not "mats" for early W113 cars. They are not correct for a 71 280SL as noted in your signature

I am doing the same on my 230SL.  Couple of questions: what are putting below the mats?  AFAIK, they sat on some type of padding / insulation, but I can't find any specifics on it.  Also, did you just wind laying your new mats over the old ones to trim the driver's side correctly (ie, dimmer hole etc.)?  Would love it if you would show some final pictures when done for those of us that are installing them.   Many thanks!   Lowell

No, on the early cars, the tunnel, sills and the rear area are carpeted. These cover the front floor area, there was a jute-like partial pad under the mats and they were a sort of greyish color more than black

Looks like they are only available in gray.  Some 230SLs came with a medium brownish tan rubberized floor covering that was a similar color to the medium brownish tan ribbed rubberized threshold covering.

@pagoda113 do you still have the MB part numbers?

Although my 250sl is RHD... I guess the numbers would be different?

Thanks!

I like your 230Sl! Same colour as mine - Dark blue (332G?)

Is that a sump/oil pan cover/protector that I can see?

Thanks but it's actually 190G color code. Yes it has the 4 under  protective undershields option 481.
