Alternator bracket

I am relocating the alternator after removing the AC compressor. Based on suggestions from this group? I did not purchase the 230 bracket but the cast bracket. When I started the install I noticed that the cooling fan was very close to the bracket. My alternator has a fan that is bigger than the the other 230 alternator I have seen. Should I replace the fan?

When the alternator is adjusted out to tighten the belt, you should have plenty of clearance.

Joe is right.  My 1970 had the same bracket and the cast fan on the alternator.

I have a 230 alternator bracket on the 250 motor in my 230 SL.  It took quite a few experiments to determine the correct belt length as the original belt was long enough that the alternator fan cut into the radiator hose.  You should check this carefully as the belts do stretch over the first weeks/months of use.

Can anyone tell me what is the part number and source of the "cast bracket", I cannot find it searching the forum.

 Also I fully agree with above suggestion to re-check the tension of the fan-belt very soon after installation, the owners manual, pg. 65, says to do so within 300 miles of installing a fan-belt, I wonder why this belt gets loose so quickly. However on- the other hand do not overtighten it, because that puts a load on the water-pump bearing which is already relatively weak on the new non top-upable water-pumps.
