Car Show Activity Heating up as Covid Cools
« on: April 26, 2021, 03:02:23 »
After a year of almost no activity, it seems that weekend car shows have returned in force here in the South.  Hardly a weekend without one lately.

Today our local Vintage Car Club  held there annual event here in Birmingham.  Last year the show was cancelled due to the pandemic.  We had 187 cars entered today.

As usual 113s are pretty thin on the ground so mine gets a fair amount of attention and appreciation.  I was fortunate enough to bring home a small trophy.

Leaving the grounds after the show today my odometer turned over 54,000 miles!! 8)

Ralph, Congratulations on the small Award!

I know what you mean being the only Pagoda at a car show. In 2015 I drove all the way to NY State and was the only pagoda, got a a rad for longest distance driven and the children judged my car as number 3 on the field (a BMW got first and a Porsche got 2nd I know what can I say).

In order to chat with other Pagoda owners one needs to take things by th e horn so to speak, like last fall 4 of us meet for a drive (See photo Left to right, Dave {Hugh found him.near London Ontario], Hugh, yours truly and,Peter [PJ, his car has been hiding in shops for the past 4 years getting restored). Dave one a B&B business, the photo was taken at one of the properties he rents out.that was only 4 cars, Dan [Dr. Benz was busy and could not join us.

I am working on a plan for the fall, you may have seen my posts here below this one (Alling all .... etc and UPDATE .... etc. So far I have 2 groups of 9 Members for the planned fall get-togethers/road trips. I’m hopping that other Members in US States and Canadian Provinces can see how easy it is to use this site to plan social get-togethers. If this old German/Canadian can do it anyone can do it.

Dieter

PS you have to drive more ~big grin~ 54K is nothing for your reliable Pagoda.

Ralph...your car looks absolutely gorgeous and certainly worthy of all the accolades!  Seeing an older car that has had its entire life being cared for properly is indeed a beautiful thing.  Many congratulations.

Thanks Dieter, I have been following your event organizing efforts for later this year.  I hope it all comes together well for you.  A little to far away for me though! Fortunately we have a fairly active MBCA group here and there is no shortage of activities.

Not only was I the only 113 on the field yesterday.  There was only one other Mercedes-Benz there, an Adenauer 300.  I did meet a 230SL owner from northern Georgia who had bought his car (for a song) in pieces and is now reassembling.  He was unaware of our group and I hope I have recruited him as a new full member.   He is in desperate need of our technical manual.

Irepond, thank you for the kind complements!
