Hi All

I am about to install seat belt guides from SLS onto my headrest pins - see picture below how it should look like when installed.

But I quickly ran into trouble as I cannot figure out, how to pull the headrest pins out of the seats. I can find videos online for the r107 how to do this, where there is a small release mechanism you need to push on the backside of the seatback. But I doubt this also works for the w113, as the back of the seatback is a solid plate and not soft as in a r107.

I have tried to pull the headrests up as far as they go, but they meet an end point, where I can't pull them up any further, and I fear I will break something, if I apply more force.

I have looked in the instruction manual as well through all previous threads on the forum to find a way to pull the headrest pins out of the seats, so that I can install the seat belt guides, but I cannot find anything on this topic (which also puzzles me, as I cannot the first to encounter this problem!?).

I would highly appreciate, if anyone can help me with a trick how to do this? :)

Thanks,

Christian

I had the same issue, doing the same thing. Theoretically they should go out when you tilt them (do not remember - to the front or to the back). I did one like that, but I had to detach the back of the seat to do the other. After removing the chair, of course.

You guys have later cars. On mine (late 1968 manufacturing, early 69 registration), the headrests simply pull out of the seat backs. I removed them to clean and tighten the swivel mechanisms, without any problem. Will install the same belt guides as you Christian (also from SLS) tomorrow, I’ll tell you if I dreamed this or if it is indeed as simple as I described.

Thanx Pawel, I did try to tilt, but let me try again, now that you say this is the way to do it. :)

Hope the seats do not have to come out. As always, something you think is just a small thing, turns out to be more complicated. ;-)

Cheers,

Christian :)

Hi,
usually one rail could have a lock to release from the back by pushing.
But because a lot of rails come from other cars means are refitted it varies from car to car.

GREAT, thanks! Much appreciated.

Seems we may also have had same irritation about twisting seat belts, and bought the guides from SLS? ;)

Cheers,

Christian

Thanx, my car is a 02/1971 (manufactured) car and it was US delivered. Thus, I believe it is the original seats with headrests.

Is there a special place I should push to engage the release mechanism, or is it only by tiltning as Pawel mentioned?

Cheers,

Christian :)
