Rocker arm shim
« on: January 03, 2021, 04:01:59 »
I spent couple of hours on the engine head today. I like to think that I came out ahead.
So far it looks like I’ll need 3 new intake valves, maybe 4. One that I’m on the fence with cleaned up pretty good but I can see small imperfections on the ground race. I’ll try to lap it and see.
I’m a bit unsure about the shims though. The one in the picture below looks to be the worst one. It’s magnified quite a bit here, nevertheless there are clearly two wear points from the rocker arm. Can I still use that shim?

I would get a new set of lash caps.  4.5 mm is standard but they come in thinner measures.

Thank you Dan.
I’ll start looking for a set. They are 4.5mm.
Are there any local distributors supporting this forum you can suggest?

I do not know if the shim needs to be of certain type (earlier or later) if you intend to change the rockers for the newer type (not colliding with the spring retainer). I do not know if one depends on the other.
