Getting rid of the groan

Just drove my car 275 miles from Ft laudedale area to Sarasota FL.   Reminded of this damn squeaking / groaning.  All shocks replaced relatively recently.   Everything that I could use silicone on I have.    Had to rebuild steering pump a couple months ago and mechanic came up blank.   1969/ 3rd owner,   Only 88k.   Got a 275 mile drive later today %uD83D%uDE0E

Could it bushings between unibody and suspension?  Seems like it%u2019s under me to right behind back seat.   Any ideas?

Hi Dana,

I also have the squeaking in back. When ever I start to slow down to stop sign or traffic light under 20mph, I hear a squeaking sound, not a braking  issue as it happens when slowing down with or without braking.  Also squeaks when I start to accelerate from slowing down, but once get above 20mph there is no squeaking. I've been told it could be suspension related probably rear trail arm bushings, which I plan on replacing before spring sometime. Please let me know if discover another possibilities.

Please let me know if you find it. I have the same problem in my E Type, drives me crazeeeeeeee. 😰😰😰😰.

That's pretty much mine.       It's SOOOOOOOOOO damn annoying though.     I live in FL so even drove the car to work today but I can't go much longer without figuring it out.

I spoke to Shvegel earlier today about the squeaking, he said that it could also be the rear brake pads. Something to else to look at.

Yep, rear axle flex mount metal on metal.   Some great detail in this forum for fix!  Wow, been years of groan....

Seemed like they never went bad for the first 40 years, now most are going bad and need to be changed.
