Rocker springs and clearance from valve springs
« on: December 18, 2020, 02:09:56 »
I took the valve cover off to inspect the top of the engine. I notice some value rocker springs in contact with valve  springs. Is this normal ? I moved the spring around the ball studs to move them away. It puts them a little off center. Is this anything needed to be addressed ? I would think the contact with the valve springs would cause I necessary chatter or noise.

Good to move them away from each other, but probably not causing noise. Check to make sure the camshaft is not too close to the valve cover hold-down metal straps. This can be a source of noise if they touch.

Thanks Joe. Yes the hold down straps were rubbing the cam so i did bend them slightly to provide a clearance.
