New Wood Trim
« on: October 19, 2020, 22:28:29 »
Hi all.

Looking for recommendations for a new wood trim set for my 250SL.   I am based in London, but happy to have it shipped from anywhere to get the best quality.  I have heard of issues in getting new sets to fit properly, and also not sure which wood is original.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

I replaced mine about three years ago.  At that time the Classic Center in Irvine had the wood in stock. In my view the quality was not as good as the original but the installed look is first class.  I don’t know the current availability. If you have your original wood, Madera Concepts can re-work it.  The cost at the time was a toss up.

Hi Michael,

Just had my interior re trimmed and purchased a whole new set from Authentic Classics , genuine MB, absolutely perfect, even the grain is book matched between the two dashboard pieces, not cheap though. Excellent and reliable service though, as always.

I bought one (RHD) from either VEP or SLS. I then sent it away to get coloured and finished (satin) to match the original  - which cost me as much as the item I had just purchased. Before we did all that we finessed it to fit to the car and left it on for a few months to take shape (I was doing a full resto so I had time). End product is great but it took some effort getting there. Rob.

Thanks for the responses.

Ray,  when I look on Authentic Classics it seems they have a couple of different versions.   The full set doesn't state original MB, but a separate Windshield only set does.     Did you buy the full set?

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Yes I got a full set but just had a look and they do not appear to be advertising them now.

There code for my set is AUTH-006820 but that was for a LHD set don't know if yours is RHD. As you probably know they are different.

Send George an email sales@authenticclassics.com and ask what the situation is, he is always very helpful and usually gets back to you fast.

You should get a 5% discount also.

If you don't have any luck you might try Mercedes main dealer over here and see what they can come up with, I seem to remember the one in Poole, Dorset is helpful with classic items.

Good Luck

Ray

Thanks Ray.

Mine is LHD.  I have contacted local MB dealer and they say the Windshield Trim is available, but not the other two parts.  I will send an email to Authentic Classics and let everyone know what they have to say
