Yes it is advisable to purchase a vignette , it might be unavoidable to use the autobahn .
But nearly all the gas stations in the south of Germany sell them , so no worry’s .

Btw the weather forecast is looking good :)

We departed today… through Belgium (eating some Belgian Frites), Germany to Vianden, Luxemburg. Car parked nicely at the hotel parking, locking in a 911 Targa. The village is still suffering from the floods earlier this summer…

Hi,
on your route to the south you should visit Trier, not far from Vianden, once capitol of the West Roman Empire and oldest town of Germany, worth seeing:     ANTE ROMAM TREVIRIS STETIT ANNIS MILLE TRECENTIS. PERSTET ET ÆTERNA PACE FRVATVR. AMEN.

Checking in in Boutique Hotel Adler 1604 in Schiltach. Proprietor of the hotel is very friendly. Moved half his terrace to let me park there. And is the chef. And made sure we could eat at his restaurant, which is a good thing. Because Tuesday is “ruhetag” in Schiltach… pretty much everything else is closed.

Out of Paris early this morning via TGV (high speed train) to Frankfurt.  Plan is to meet up with Achim, Reinhard, Martijn and Brain.  Then onto the scenic routes towards Seefeld in Tirol.

Friends,

We arrived early and once again Team Euro has found a lovely spot for us to gather for our event.  Thank you Peter, Rick and others that worked so hard to put on the event.  Went for a 5 mile hike up the mountain by our lodge.  Highly recommend!

For those that may want to wash off  the “Road Patina” from a long drive, we also found a car wash close to our hotel:

You will need to go into the shop and pay, then bring the card they give you to the automatic wash.  If you have a road princess that cannot tolerate an auto wash, they have a hand wash as well.

Looking forward to being together again this weekend!

First up, apologies to all for not saying goodbye. It was late by the time I got off the phone to home and a brainwave, perhaps alcohol fuelled hit me. I’d been planning to leave early, but the brainwave was to get to the FurkaPass before the traffic. So I started the car at 4.30 this morning.
No offence to you, it was worth it. Every km… I turned off the highway towards Flims at 7.30 and barely saw another moving vehicle until I was coming down the Furka at about 10am, by which time the traffic going up looked heavy and the road was wet. I had a blast and may have adhered to the odd speed limit…
My 7 hour journey was finished in the rain… hopefully you avoid it.

Thanks all, lovely to see you/meet you and feel normal again. See you next time

Meanwhile…

Great event - many thanks to Rick, Peter and all those who helped organise.
We are on our way back to Scotland - managed to get into the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart yesterday.
Next stop Bonn before our ferry to Newcastle on Tuesday evening.

We did miss you... but it was a wise decision. It took us over 4 hours to get over the Fernpass to Germany.
