dad's '54 Healey
« on: September 06, 2020, 16:06:46 »
After a long (long) nut-and-bolt restoration, dad finally finished his early '54 Healey 100-4 (#1169). The 100-4 is a beautiful car and of all the Healeys I've seen over the last 50-55 years, the BN1/100-4 is still my favorite. I took advantage of the photo-op and parked my 230SL alongside it..
probably not too many members of this group have driven a BN1/100-4 at 80mph+, but I can assure those who haven’t that it certainly doesn't drive like a Mercedes!

No, a Healy doesn't drive like a Mercedes of your year, entirely different philosophy and level of car and engineering.  A 55 Jaguar XK might be a better comparison.

My dad had a '64 BJ7

John, yes I agree.  That's a beautiful photo of your dad's BJ7 and a perfect background. Looks like ski-slopes - Summit County, Colorado?

My parents live 3 minutes from Warm Springs, GA and this past weekend (Nov 21-22) the town held their annual Christmas parade. Dad and I were invited to participate with our cars. Weather was great so we lowered the soft tops - I even got dad to lower the windscreen on his Healey.

I think a couple members of this Group have a Healey.  Just fyi, dad's Healey will appear in the Austin Healey Club of America's 2022 Calendar (April 2022).. thought that was kinda neat.
