Driver’s Side Seat Rail Issue
« on: September 06, 2020, 13:02:12 »
The driver’s seat on my 1970 US spec 280SL although it can be moved on its rails front and back using the adjustment level under the seat, seems to have a backlash of a few millimeters, what ever position it is set up. As a result the seat moves by a few mm when ever I accelerate or stop fast, with a loud click which is very annoying (if not dangerous)

Would anyone know how to fix this issue, probably has to do with the selector level but I cannot find this part. I assume it is item no 7 on the attached schematic from Niemoeller’s online catalogue. It seems this part is no longer available.

Are you sure the mounting screws are not loose?

I suggest you remove the seat and check out the runners.
Full removal details are in our Tech Manual here on site under Seats.

Good luck
