PPI needed in Beverly Hills / Los Angeles Area
« on: August 22, 2020, 19:57:42 »
Dear Members,
I have a friend in NY looking at a car in Beverly Hills and he needs a solid PPI.
Please recommend someone who is either part of our group or a mechanic that you may know.

Thank you in advance

If the car is from "Beverly Hills Car Club", run, don't walk away from it.

Steven, this may help,
West Coast Auto Appraisals,  310 827 8400,
i think he actually lives  or  his shop is in Beverley hills,.or Santa Monica.
His Name is Neil,
I would like to let you know that i have never used  this firm , but
a few years ago   a  Car club friend here in Queensland, had them inspect a
1973 Mercedes  450SL, that he imported  back here, and he was very happy.

Pay Brian Peters from Motoring Investments to travel from San Diego.  Very knowledgeable about W113 Mercedes.

I’m considering a car from them that I inspected and seemed to be in good shape. Now looking to get a PPI with compression test.

Any specifics around why I should run?

It's because they sell a lot of junker cars dragged out from storage, like this:
https://www.beverlyhillscarclub.com/1966-mercedes-benz-230sl-c-13202.htm
However they sell good cars too; they just sell whatever they find. They are used car dealers, with all that entails. It's up to you to assess (vehicle and title).

I’ve never used BHCC but pretty much every car I’ve ever seen them advertise has been a project. Maybe a small project, maybe huge. But all requiring work and parts. They are described to aid a sale, often at keen prices to shift the metal. But still mostly projects.

Yes, they just move the cars through without any work. Lots of non-runners.
