Soft top frame disassembly
« on: July 09, 2020, 15:40:56 »
How much of a job is it to disassemble one side of the soft top frame. I have a broken spring connector (common problem) that I wish to get rewelded so both large springs are workable instead of just one side. The frame and top are in excellent condition and fit perfectly. I've had the top off of the car before and had no trouble reinstalling and adjusting it, but I have never tried to disassemble it. I see that SLS sells the frame screws to replace  the ones damaged in order to disassemble. I have done  90% of the mechanical work on my car for the 25 years I've owned it (thanks to the knowledge of the people on this forum) but this project has me a little nervous. Thanks for any advise.

My frame also had the lever that holds the springs broken off. I just removed the entire frame and took it to a welder. There was no need to reassemble. I also made a pattern for the arm that the welder used to make a new one. PM me if you would like it.
