280SL Headlight Connections
« on: June 15, 2020, 17:10:42 »
Hi all,
I'm diving into the details of the headlight connections as I convert my US headlights to Euro. The tech manual is missing this detail.
I've tracked down all the connections and where they go, except for one "extra" connection on the back of the US connector assembly.
Can anyone help me identify what the "extra" connection in this picture is for?
Thanks!
Gary

OK, well I got this sorted out. Attached are the connectors for the US and Euro headlights and their respective wire connection colors. As stated in the Tech Manual, this is a straight changeout, connector-for-connector, with the result being the Euro fog lights work when pulling out the switch and clicking 2 stops right. In the transition the clearance lights (terminal 57 on the Euro terminal board) is orphaned, and not used.

This does not include the modification to activate the side marker lights to operate with the turn signals.

Perhaps I should post these to the Tech Manual?
