Head heater water pipe connection
« on: February 08, 2020, 17:46:59 »
I have been unable to remove the right angle heater water pipe connection between spark plugs 4 and 5, despite repeated heating, PB Blaster, etc.  Does anyone know a part number for this connection?  I was unable to find one at my local Mercedes dealership.  Any source you might suggest?  Bud's also doesn't offer this.

Mine looked about like yours.  I cleaned it up and painted it and am reusing it.  I was leery about trying to break that big fitting that was 53 years old in aluminum.  The person who rebuilt my head said that it wouldn't be in the way, and it must not have been.

The part number you're after is 180-200-06-19. Is listed as an unmarked callout, so it's not in the picture.  Parts personnel should know these types of things and know to look for unlisted callouts!  Sadly, it shows to be no longer available.  However, the ones used on the 250L and 280SL look so similar I have to wonder if it'll work on a 230SL? That  Part number 130-200-01-19.  It wholesales for around $140 and retails for $190, and is still available.  The picture below show the one on the 250 and 280 that is still available.
