tire jack decal
« on: February 02, 2020, 19:13:50 »
I am not sure if the attached decal is applicable to all Pagodas?  I see in the Tech Manual where it is shown on 250/280 tire jack, but the 230sl jack is a screw thread column different than the 280sl.

Any ideas anyone?  If it is applicable to the 230, where should it be

Not to be used with W113 cars that have the "external" thread type jack. This version of jack was used on all Pagodas until early 280 SL; up to xx 1968.

As a side note; the early type jack came with an instruction too :)
It was in the form of a hang tag, see:

Here is a 2011 discussion on the subject.

My Aug 68 280sl came with the earlier type. My friend's Oct 68 (vin 5xxx) came with it also.

This was an interesting discussion and thanks again to those helping.  Interesting note of  the picture added of the screw jack in the previous thread

I am attaching a picture of mine (without the wheel chock) which shows some additional tool "holders" not shown on the picture of that previous thread .  Simply for reference

Not to belabor this thread but I see that in some postings, it is noted that the jack handle slid into/ is stored inside the screw jack.

If you look at the picture on my post of my jack set up, the jack handle has its "own" clip which is how it was when I acquired the car from Germany in 1986.

Is this incorrect?

Could it be that the handle "holder" is supposed to be for the something else, maybe the wheel alignment tool?
