Need a Cold Start Switch (not cold start valve)
« on: January 01, 2020, 22:54:35 »
Hi,

I have a '69 280SL that just got a good tune-up, but the car takes too long to start --on a cold start. My mechanic says the cold start valve is there and working, but the cold start switch needs to be replaced. Does anyone know where I can get one at a good price preferably in the Los Angeles area?

Thanks.

There is a thermo time switch and a relay. The thermo time switch is very expensive. I would make sure the thermo time switch is bad before replacing it. The relay is usually an easy and cheap fix. In addition you need to check to make sure that the enrichment solenoid on the IP activates anytime the starter is engaged.
