Door handle button will not work
« on: December 25, 2019, 00:40:07 »
Its been over 1 1/2 years since I last posted about this subject. I finally gave in an took it to my W113 expert shop in town. After $8K in repairs to other problems, he told me that he could not get the handle to work.

If I remove the door handle, It works perfectly, the button pushes in, then springs back. I cleaned it various times with Houdini as well. When I mount it in the door, and then press on the thumbpiece, it stays down and will not spring back. I have looked at everything in the door panel, but cant understand why its doing this. I had another shop look at the pictures, but still no cure.

This has become my New Years resolution to get this fixed.  Any thoughts?

Merry Christmas!!  (Sorry I am not PC)

Do the linkages work with the handle removed?

Does the inner handle open the door?

Did you compare the linkages on both doors?

Try a light coating of white lithium grease on the moving parts on the linkage, particularly on the place where the business end of the button pushes against the lever in the closing mechanism.  And Merry Christmas!
