Front grill surround chrome frame
« on: October 16, 2019, 19:01:50 »
Hello! This Jay. I am currently restoring a blue (904) ‘69 280 SL with parchment interior. Many positive and a few negative experiences along the way (since Jan 2017). My current challenge is that during the chrome plating process the front grill frame was damaged to the point of not being repairable....
Now I am looking for a replacement frame and find myself lost between the options of an aftermarket product (likely from Asia) or buying the OEM frame at around $2k. Any advice re fit and / or a good source for an aftermarket product is greatly appreciated. The front portion of my car is stock (no bodywork or rust repair) so the oem grill should fit (?).
Thank you very much in advance for your thoughts!
Best, Jay
