Hard to listen to, very monotonous song, yet 70K+ likes. Could barely make out the Pagoda. Makes me wonder how many Pagodas are in Africa (not counting South Africa). I've never seen one in over 15 trips there this past decade.

I would call it a repaint. Not a restoration. The paint itself did come out nice. Every car out there is going to need some sort of body work prep before paint.

Hi Cees,
I believe a lot of cars "left" African countries after colonies gained their independence ....it was a way of getting some value out for those who were leaving and the currency had quickly devalued.
I can speak for Mozambique were as a kid in the early 70s I knew the owners of a pagoda , a blue 190Sl and .... a silver 300 SL R .  All taken to Europe after 1974 .
I remember 170 convertible with 36k miles and a adenauer 300 ( think it was a 300) in a scrapyard !  .... Of course plenty of sedans like the fin tail and 60s early 70s models w108/9/11/12 .
I would safely bet there isn't one pagoda there today. But there was a w112 convertible I saw in 2000s but I believe was a recent import from South Africa.

Thanks for that Pedro, very interesting.
I knew of a Pagoda in Ethiopia and one in Kenya some years ago, don't know if they are still there.

To be fair, I've seen far far worse paint jobs done here stateside on Pagodas....

Indeed, although it's alarming to see that they didn't even bother to take the hard top off during the prep (and maybe the paint too!) at least they included the infamous headlamp notches the end result is far from the worst car I've seen and over there it probably cost to do.

I think the car and sanding is somewhat staged for the camera. All the other chrome from the car had been removed except the hardtop. The top was most likely just put on the car when it wasn’t (really) being worked on to keep dust out of the interior.
