Old 280 Hub Caps
« on: June 05, 2019, 08:31:12 »
I have been lucky enough to acquire a NOS Hub Caps (if that is the correct description) , even the right colour.

I hesitate just to discard the old ones though they are pretty beat up.

Other than emergency back up (plenty of thrives about these days) as I am pretty sure they can’t be refurbished is there any point in keeping them?

Any thoughts would be appreciated in case I am overlooking something.

Takes less time to pound four nails into the wall of your garage and hang them up than it did to pose the question.

If they are the original steel (not stainless steel) with pale green paint on the back, and they are too rusty to re-chrome, then they are junk.
If they are as described above, but not too rusty, I would be interested in them.
If they are stainless steel and beat up, probably no one would be interested. I am not.  ;)

Are they steel with pale green backs?

They do not have pale green backs, just pressed stainless steel.

Apart form perhaps hanging on a wall as suggested, it sounds like they are heading for the bin.

Many thanks for your thoughts.

I've seen the smaller dog-dish ones repurposed into a ladies handbag.

Stainless steel hubcaps can be buffed and repainted if there are not many dents.

Mine were pretty beat up, so they have all gone.

Thanks to all for you comments.
