Fuel Tank replacement 280SL
« on: May 31, 2019, 07:29:53 »
Hi all

I am in the UK and need a new fuel tank. Can anyone recommend a UK supplier of a quality replacement as prices seem to vary quite a lot and I don't want to buy rubbish.

Many thanks

The factory tank or the Dansk made unit for a third the cost.  Although I have no experience with the Dansk tank I do have experience with a few of their Porsche 911 offerings.  Always a good product.

Ashley

I seem to remember some posts on here,  that tanks can be damaged in transit, then the filler nozzle gets pushed about , and appears not to be correctly located, so whichever one you get, make sure it is all correct - on delivery.

I had a new one from Mercedes a couple of years ago - Expensive -  but no problems.

Keep well

ok thanks for the helpful advice gents.

I spoke to a couple of specialists who said the reproduction tanks are ok so I am going this route.  I would have loved to buy a genuine tank but I priced a Mercedes one up at £923 + VAT and a Dansk one is £245 + VAT. Hope it fits!!

Best regards
