1971 Mercedes Benz 280 sl Pagoda

I need to buy new tires for my 1971 MB 280 sl Pagoda which is used infrequently, primarily when the weather is warmer. Since it's a hard riding car ,I would like to fit the car with the best tire size for the best handling and driving. Do not want whitewalls. Any recommendations on tire size and brand?

Assuming standard 5.5 or 6" wheels, 185/R14 would work
And may swear by a Coker tyre or the Vredestein Sprint Classics
