1970 280SL Black finishes
« on: February 16, 2019, 02:25:48 »
It there any specific information on proper black finishes for coolant expansion tank (brass), air intake canister and power steering cap, etc. There are lots of post stating black...but I would like to know what kinda finish (mat, semi-gloss, gloss).
My eyes are tired from all the searching....any help would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

When you use the search function you will find this has been discussed numerous times. Search dunkel Grau.

This is a very low mile 1970 280SL unrestored engine on a car sold by Motoring Investments.  More of a satin black to me.  Be careful of using the brake booster as a guide.  Even on extremely low mileage examples sold by anyone reputable the booster will have been sent off for rebuilding which includes refinishing.
