230 sl rear drum brake question.
« on: February 04, 2019, 20:18:34 »
Hi,
I need another bit of information if possible, putting back together what was a pretty botched 230sl and could do with some advice re the position of springs/washers on the rear shoes. The bottom pivot is fine I can work that one out ok but the ones that hold the shoes further up has me puzzled!
I've done a fair bit of searching on here and get conflicting answers!

Firstly i need to know which way around does the dished washer go, does the dish face the adjuster or the shoes?

Its shown facing the adjuster on Niemollers link below, followed by big washer, spring and small washer.

Going by the photo below, the shoe is between the dished washer and the big washer with the small spring and washer tensioning the shoe. Is this correct?

But going by this it seems to be wrong...

Where it states "and the two adjustment bolts:
cupped washer, spring, flat washer, brake shoe, flat washer, pin"

Thanks
Keith
