Use of body panel adhesive.

A local body shop has told me that use of adhesives is becoming common for anchoring replacement panels.  I'm thinking of using adhesive to replace my trunk floor.  Has anyone used this method?  If so what techniques and supplies have you used?  A discussion will be appreciated.

I could see that in cases of a patch panel on say a front fender. However anything where stress is a component, I would say no. I would guess the trunk pan is a part of the unibody structure and therefore helps in the stiffness of the structure. That would involve stresses. So I would not do it myself.

I have used 3m panel adhesive, pretty amazing stuff. Watch some of the videos on you tube about it to help with your decision. I used it on our 280 to fill in speaker holes in the rear bulkhead. I chose it over welding to avoid the heat. Have also used it more on a different project.
