230/250SL under dash multi function plug
« on: December 21, 2018, 16:25:23 »
Hi Guys,
Can any one help with info regarding the under dash connecter for the multi function switch in the early 250SL? I fitted a new switch but the colours dont match up.
I found a colour photo and discription of the 280SL 12 plug but not for the earlier models.
Regards
Chris

Hello Chris,
That's strange. ???

The colors of the wires before and behind the underdash plug system should match ...
...with the exception of one: the red-white-blue wire coming from fuse 1 (constant current 30) continues as a black-white-blue wire in the loom of the multi function switch assembly - but this is only on the 230/250 SL switch but not on the later 250/280 SL switch - somehow strange, but it is. ;)

All other colors should/must match. 8)
If not something is strange on your car.   :o
By the way, did you buy a new OEM multi function switch A 001 545 5524 or an aftermarket one?
With the latter, the colors could be "somehow"....

Best,

Thanks Achim,
I have an early 250SL which I bought with a sedan multy function switch installed. I bought a new switch from Mercedes in the UK. When I installed it I found the colour coding of the car and the switch did not match. However, I managed to get most of it sorted, except for the wipers. Since I posted my request, I became suspicious of the wiper motor installed in the car and found that the wiper motor has a 5 point plug, which I believe is from a later model sedan and not a Pagoda.
I posted my request for help, quite a few weeks ago and I am presently spending 4 months in the UK and therefor not with the car in South Africa.
So, if you could confirm that the Pagoda has a 4 point wiper motor plug(not a 5 point)it will already be of great help. Much appreciated.

Chris, for 280SL I see 5 pins in wiper motor in the diagram, but 56a is empty, no wire connected. Connector has 4 wires.

Yes, Chris, for sure.
The Pagoda has only a 4 point wiper motor plug.
I am not aware of a 5 point wiper motor plug ...
at least not with the 230/250 SL
