East Coast to Pagoda Fest
« on: November 19, 2018, 17:17:34 »
Trying to gauge any interest in East Coast 113er's going/shipping/driving (or any combination of the above) to San Diego for PagodaFest. I would be interested in driving if we have a caravan going. Also open to drive one way and ship the other (in either order). I am in SW Georgia, but would travel to meet a group of drivers if there is interest.

Thanks,

James (Eddie ) Black

I believe there has been some discussion on trucking from the Virginia, ohio area to SanDiego for the Pogadafest. Names i have heard so far are Tom, Alex, myself.

I do have a relationship with a couple of specialized car carriers. A specific routing can be planned out, say, from VA through OH to CA with or without other stops. Then, something can be planned out properly.

I may be interested in round trip shipping.  I've always used Intercity Lines with no mishaps.

Several of us from Virginia are interested in a group shipment.  Will follow this post to see if there is enough interest in a coordinated transport.

Whether I'm buying or selling, I ship cars every month both open and enclosed. Actually bought one of our personal AMG out of San Diego and shipped it enclosed to Columbus a few years ago.

Shipping is the easy part, what we need is someone to receive the cars and a secure place to store them a week in advance. And up to a week after we fly back home. That is my concern, maybe someone has some suggestions for that?

Hi Guys,

This post seems to have gone onto the back burner.  Looking at the posts there appears to be five that may be interested in shipping their cars west for Pagodafest.  Has anyone actually done anything on this as my plan was to be in Virginia at the correct time with my car to link up with any western transport.  Otherwise I will have to do some replanning to drive back across USA to SanDiego or will arrange my own trucking at from Virginia.

Garry, I had also expressed interest in joining a shipment from the Eastern USA.  My car is in Birmingham, Alabama and in order to join a shipment from the Virginia/Carolina area I would prefer to join along the way, maybe Nashville if a southern route is taken.

Alternatively I would need to drive to the starting point (wherever it might be).  I haven't heard if anyone has started contact with a shipper.  I went on line today and asked Intercity Lines for a quote from Birmingham to San Diego.  Hauser recommended Intercity.  If anyone in Virginia/North Carolina/South Carolina/Georgia/Florida is working on this please join in this thread.  Exact timing and exact shipping destination will need to be sorted out. My plan is to return from Italy early September to participate in this Early October event. No flights booked yet but I have my event tickets.

I am thinking in terms of a return shipment to Alabama around mid-October, but I am flexible.

Looking forward to hearing from others.

I am in southwest GA and am interested in shipping as well. I haven't completely ruled out driving one or both ways, but haven't obtained any formal quotes. I also would be open to driving to a point along the route to drop off my car (i.e. Nashville) or any southern moist point. Unaware of anyone, other than Hauser, further south who is shipping and haven't heard of anyone driving as of yet. But like Neely, I do have my tickets :) as well as hotel reservations!

$2695 each way seems very high, in fact it is more than the cost of shipping my car from Australia to LA and back. :o

Anyone else made any enquires of trucking companies?  We must have near a trailer full at least going one way?

I have no skin in this game unfortunately, but it may be worth trying to negotiate a group rate rather than pricing the cost for individual cars.

Just checking back in to see if anyone is still planning to drive or ship their Pagoda to San Diego from the east coast. I know that Jorge has some interest in shipping his car from NYC. I wonder if Garry would notice if I hitched my car tgo his for his swing back west......

Tom and i are shipping our cars from Gernolds place in Maine leaving on 18th Sep.

I decided after 10,000++ miles my Pagoda can have a rest getting the rest of the way across to Pagodafest.  The original plan was from Virginia or Ohio but no one would take ownership of the arrangements unfortunately hence none from that area.

Amazing costs. A few years back I had my El Camino shipped from Minnesota to Texas, then on to The Netherlands, for less than $1,500 including customs clearance.
