1970 280SL Subframe Mounts

Hi,
I am looking for preferably OEM MB subframe mounts.  Mercedes doesn't have any I guess.  Part number 113-586-0033

I know the 108 can be interchanged but they don't have those either.  If it comes down to it I would take another brand.

Kevin, I ended up putting Febi-Bilstein subframe mounts for the 108 in my car about 3 years ago. They do not come with the square stop plate so you will need to reuse your old ones. Hi guys , I also put febi bilstein kit in my 250sl. I guess oem mounts from Mercedes are NLA. Any issue with febi? Are they good quality ? Thank you

I installed the febi subframe mounts last winter. I did not have any issues, except a welcome one.... the front end no longer clunks.

I reused the plates and hardware, as the kit's was too short (if I recall). Other threads here discuss this, so it was not a surprise.

I read once that the original subframe mounts were available for a cost of over 600€. Suddenly they got nla. Is weird why some parts get so expensive in our car .

Hey Mauro, it's called 'value billing'. Mercedes charges us what we think we can afford, not based on their cost to produce (although that will be the 'floor '). As the car's value has risen, so has the 'value' of its parts. You can see that's how it works if you look at parts prices for, say, VW Beetles or Triumph Spitfires. I realized this when, some 20 years ago, a 300 SL crankshaft would cost $20,000 from Mercedes. Probably more now.

Here in Italy, Mercedes dealer have even trouble to put the correct vin number in the sistem . They get confused as the vin doesn’t start from WDB BUT start from 113.
I wanted once to order an original water pump for my pagoda. After 10 minutes of discussion, he told me that the price was 700€ and a second after he told me that was nla. I prefer to save time and buy from the internet an oem part without the Mercedes logo on it .

I think the folks at the dealer I work with are already trained in finding the parts. I invested some time in guiding them a bit and building relationship. It is also good to have access to the system and just send orders to them on-line.

Some of these guys also do not want trouble and will try to push back on you - then nothing is possible obviously. Usually positive motivation works. The key is also to negotiate proper discounts.
