« on: December 22, 2017, 22:32:10 »
Hi All,
Would like to mount an aircon in my pagoda.
I have been offerred both used Frigiking and Kuhlmeister underdashunits.

Which of these to is the better choice ?
Any known pros or cons ?

Are you talking about just the underdash component? That part includes the evaporator and temp and fan speed controls. I do not think there is much difference in the 2 you are considering. Installing a complete a/c system involves acquisition of many parts including engine pulleys and compressor brackets. Repositioning the alternator was part of what the US dealers did when installing one of these US manufactured kits. Compare what you are getting to a complete kit similar to what Bud's offers. Most people installing one of the older systems would not bother reusing hoses, compressor or condenser since newer technology offers better performance and less toll on the engine.

Yes, just the underdash unit , aim is to restore the internals of it and buy rest of the stuff new (already have bought the Sandentype-pump thanks to Shvegel ).

On pictures i recieved , the kuhlmeister-unit  looks a bit slimmer to me, please correct me if i am wrong..

But questions that now come up are;
Are the connections (pipes,in-outlets)  identically located.
How about blower capacity /noise, and  can i  do new brushes/bearings
Quality of the switches / are there any repair options available
Do both units have chromed metal deflectors
etcetera

Highly appreciate any comments/remarks

Switches, the blower, the evaporator and tubing can all be changed, replaced or modified as needed. If I were putting in an underway unit, I would likely replace what does not work since newer parts will be more reliable in the future. A Spal blower will likely give you better and quieter air flow.
