help, distributor has to much clearance
« on: March 08, 2017, 10:25:56 »
Hi,

I am having some problems with my ignition on my W111 280se 1969
I attached a movie and you can see how much clearance i have on the distributor.

I already tried several distributors and even a 123 ignition but they all have the same clearance.
So i guess the problem is located somewhere in the engine..?

Anybody went trough this problem?

ps: engine is rebuilt but has run over 600.000kms...

Check to make sure you have the spring between the distributor end and timing gear below it. It is under the distributor end drive and down in the housing. Without it the gear may be moving upward and causing the extra play.
