1967 250 SL - Advices on two tone paint job
« on: February 27, 2017, 21:00:18 »
Hello gentlemen, I have not posted in a while and worse, I have not driven my Pagode in a year.
But I am planning remedy that in the spring and do some sprucing up.
New muffler system, deal some surface rust and clean and repaint the underside.

But the big thing I want to do is make the car two toned. I have seen images of 2 toned 113's and they look great. My car is a French delivery late model 250 SL that was originally Papyrus White with navy Blue MB Tex. But by the time I bought it in NJ USA in 1994 it was repainted Horizon Blue all over. The interior and dash were done nicely. For some reason even the door panels were recovered. I can't could never find any accident or fire damage to warrant a complete color change, so it is still a mystery.
So since the car has already been changed from original I don't see the sin in  repainting the hard top and hub caps navy blue- the French Racing Colors, I think for a French delivered car. It has a navy blue soft top and I always enjoyed the contrast of the light blue and dark blue color scheme.
Pls let me know your thoughts.
thank you,
jz

Sounds to me like an excellent color that will really "pop"!  Good luck with your "spruce-up" and get it out and drive it!  Jon

That sounds like a great colour combination.

You could try one of those home renovation / painting places with the computer modeling program to find exactly the right colour Blue if you are not 100% decided at this time.

The two tone blues look great. Mine is light blue 334G and 350H dark blue.
Hub caps have since been corrected to the dark colour.

Excellent. Thanks for the comments. I plan to proceed with the spruce up during March.
I will even replace my 15 years old Pirellis with new 205/70/14 Michlins.
Good stuff.
