correct first aid kit
« on: February 17, 2016, 18:07:49 »
Hi Members
Just wondering if anybody knows what is the correct first aid kit for 1969 280sl (US model)? I know it was an optional extra. Previous posts suggest that it was supplied by American White Cross Laboratories. Is this correct and is the example shown period correct? Thanks

Nope, this is from an early 70's sedan.

The one you want for a 280Sl is below:

The green plastic kits were typically Lohman, but Hartmann made one too.

The 230SL's typically had the metal tin box version of the same green kit.

Thanks for the reply Mike.
To clarify the Lohmann and Hartmann kits were available in the US. When I was trawling online I see the Hartmann kits are available through ebay sellers this side of the pond but less so on your side which lead me to believe that there was a difference between US and European kits...

Brendan, all of the hits by both are all in german, no english.  I don't believe there were any north american kits that were correct for the car.  As for ebay, all you see here in the states are the 107 black boxes, or the 123 white
Kits, both incorrect in the 60's, and all the newer pouches.  The older blue metal boxes were correct for the 190sl and 300sl.  I have bought my kits from germany.

Hi, could someone identify the year and model that the first aid kit shown in the attachment is from please? I picked this up in Sydney last year, on gumtree (a sort of aussie ebay).

Here is an unused first aid kit that came in many Mercedes cars from the 70s and 80s. Made by Hartmann, it is DIN 13164. Appears to have never been opened. From a Euro 1986 560SEL.  Also W123/W126
