I have been using a professional painter and helping (probably a hinderance if the truth be known)

Final bit of paint on next week if all well.

Well the finish coats are being done to the body over the next few days and have started the mechanicals. Engine out for overhaul and front and rear brakes all replaced and rear end and front beam repainted today.

Still think November is the aim at this point.

Going all week on Ute to get it ready for the big annual Day of The Volkswagen car show on this Sunday. It will be a trailer job as not yet running but pretty much there and the best I can do for show without waiting another year.

Very nice job.

We had a 1955 Transporter that I was going to restore. The last time it was registered for the road was in 1976 and the owner just used it since on his farm to take hay to the horses in the pasture. It was in weekly use up until 2004. Then my Dad bought it, placed it his back yard for a year+ sitting next to my pagoda (covered with Plywood - up to the axels in mud etc.). The week he moved the Pagoda into a shed some vandals broke every window in the transporter (and every window in his Ford Aerostar Van) and Dad gave up on ever restoring it and traded it for a set of used tires for his truck. As of 4 years ago it was still driving (on a farm) back to living life as a farm hack somewhere up near Alaska.

Time for a rest i think. I still have another 1958 van put away in a friends shed that I may do but not for a year or three. Kate just would not understand!!!!

Finally have my Volkswagon Split Screen Single Cab Ute finished and road registered. Am off on the ferry to Tasmania off our southern coast tomorrow night for a weekend car show then some touring.

Only taken a few years spare time.

I was wondering about this. Looks great!!
There is a double cab up for sale near me and I was toying with the idea. Im out of room though. Maybe after we move.
