I am sorry if (some of) you get the impression I had a lot of knowledge... unfortunately I haven't. I am just an aficionado of these fine cars.

I have some literature, yes, the table books (Tabellenbuch) would be best I think.

As far as I remember there have been 3-4 different distributors for the 230 but I tend to believe only one for the 250 SL and 2 (or so) for the 280.
I don't think there were many differences between Euro and US specifications in those days; these took place later during the 280 production time.

It "seems to be common knowledge" that the Bosch ...051 distributor is more or less correct for almost all of the pagodas. The only exception are the late whole aluminum-distributor-280 SLs with or without (?) transistorised ignition.

Sorry that is all I can tell you know.
Currently I have only the 1969 Tabellenbuch form 1969 with me here in Magdeburg. I'll check it and let you know what it says.
