280 sl resto mod pixs?
« on: August 22, 2014, 17:49:40 »
I read an article where the AMG factory took a 300sl gulling and did a modern drivetrain upgrade. I also saw an article where someone but a for 302 v8 in a 280 sl. Any pixs of resto modded Pagoda's?

Hi, and welcome.

Here is a thread describing my project where I fitted a 560 motor and manual transmission in my Pagoda : http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=15521.0

Here is one about a 3.5 Mercedes motor swap: http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=16902.0

Here is another build with an American motor: http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=11783.0

Here is a link to the Hatch & Sons conversions: http://www.hatchandsons.com/pages/280sl/

Here is a link to the Mechatronik M-SL: http://www.mechatronik.de/en/engineering/the-m-sl/

Prepare yourself for some resistance though, as the crowd here is quite conservative and values originality (nothing like the Porsche or BMW crowds for example).

If you find a car and go ahead with your project, start a thread in the "Research & Development" section, I will be happy to follow up and assist.

Good luck!
