What do you get when a Pagoda roof morphs into a Gullwing?

Might this raise the ire of MB?  Don't they find these and crush them? Or is the fact that there is or might be a real Mercedes underneath make it legit? I don't know--but getting out of the country legally may pose an issue?  ???
They call a Sunbeam Tiger a "poor man's Cobra" so is this a "poor man's Gull Wing?"

The statement:"The car is missing all the glasses (no Problem to buy them) and different other Things." puts the purchase in the high risk context.

Just was wondering if the owner of this vehicle can qualify to join our Group? ;)

FYI the one they crushed, they only crushed the body the underpinnings on that one also were Mercedes those were left intact... I think there is a stong possibility if this is brough out of Germany through regular channels it also could be separated and the replica body crushed

It appears that someone here asked about the crushing possibility and the seller has now added info to his description.

I'd rather spend the money on a Pagoda that needs to be saved. Just doesn't do it for me.

I also like it very much. The gullwing and the Pagoda share the same wheelbase, so that's convenient. However, I wonder how they connected the cut out Pagoda body and the polyester shell. I also wonder how they addressed the rigidity question as it may have suffered from cutting out the Pagoda's shell.

I see the gullwing replica didn't sell even they found some more chrome pieces for it.  $30K+ for a replica seems a little high.  A Pagoda in the shape of what's under the fibreglass shell can't be worth much and I would really wonder how the strength issue is handled - but in the end its still a cobbled together toy that isn't either pagoda or a 300SL.   Now if you got one of the Gullwing America replicas built from scratch using various newer mercedes compnents, I think you would have a real toy.

I would have thought that $30k would have secured the deal but what do I know - I'm still looking for a $2,000 Porsche 356.

I contacted the seller and he was getting very tired of all the ill-informed questions he was getting from all over the world. Imwantednto go and see it to see if we could make a deal but he says that he has a buyer bring 40k (euros) this weekend.
